Little Bit Of Light Standing in the morning sun Waiting for the world to come Let it shine Sitting on a coffee break Don’t know what it’ll take When will it shine? As the road unwinds trying to find A little bit of light Little bit of light Despite the night A little bit of light Shine down on me Shaking off my coat Feeling like a dope When will it shine? Running through the rain I got no one else to blame Let it shine The road does lurch upon my search Chorus It’s a mystery to me Maybe it’s meant to be Let the light shine down on me Real change is like a fine wine It takes a lot of time I’ve drunk a bottle or two Don’t know what else to do Let it shine As the road unwinds trying to find Chorus
2.
I’ve Been Down I’ve been down before my friend You can’t hide from me I can see lines across your face Where a smile used to be Has a girl ripped your heart in two? I’ve been down before oh yeah As low as you can get Days I thought I’d never see Times I could forget When the sun never once shone through I’ve been glum before old chum You don’t have to lie to me I can hear the pain in your voice Pleading sympathy Has the world ripped your dreams in two? I’ve been down my friend
3.
As Sure As I Can Be As sure as I can be As sure as I can be As sure as anyone really knows As far as I can tell As far as I can tell As far as anyone really knows, how it goes White light hits a black road Spooky faces in the trees Corners come fast and sharp Shattered by degrees Who’s to say what’s right or wrong? Where do I belong? Who can say? (Chorus) Many miles of mercy I’ve traveled with this moon My heart is out here somewhere Hope it finds me soon Is the answer just a lucky guess? A no or yes? Is it any day? (Chorus)
4.
I Can See You Now I’m drumming my fingers on the steering wheel Waiting for the traffic lights to change A breakfast DJ is spinning a spiel Trying to sell me something I don’t believe Smiling at me I can see you now Looking too hard to leave In the corner of my mind I can see The café girl thinks I’m talking with her But I’m a million miles away My coffees shaking like an amateur I can’t hear a single word that she breathes Laughing with me I can see you now Looking too hard to leave In the corner of my mind I can see They say love is all that matters Commuter cars are curving off into the years Underneath the highway signs Mobile phones ringing in their ears I check the mirror the traffic starts to weave Talking with me I can see you now Looking too hard to leave In the corner of my mind I can see They say love is all that matters

Brave Enough To Fly All my worlds’ confusion dark shadows in the cave Surrounded by illusion trying to be brave Brave enough to never die Brave enough to fly Caught between extremes underneath the wave All my hopes and dreams trying to be brave Brave enough to rise above Brave enough to love Here’s to all the toil flowers grace the grave Lying in the soil trying to be brave Brave enough to say goodbye Brave enough to fly
6.
I Don’t Ask Why I don’t need questions or tests The full moon sky knows best I need you I don’t ask why I don’t need kingdoms or keys A bird should fly toll free I need you I don’t ask why How can I ask when I know? What you mean to me I don’t need reasons or signs The sun up high is fine I need you I don’t ask why I need you I need you I don’t ask why
7.
Everything Depends On You I know I should be modern and heartless Maybe I could be happy regardless But when I look into your eyes I know that’s not true Everything depends on you At the risk of sounding romantic I’d say our love is as big as the Atlantic When I hold you in my arms I hope you feel it to Everything depends on you Don’t say we’re just friends I like loving better What else can I do? Everything depends on you Maybe these rhymes are sentimental But these feelings are elemental For me there is no doubt Let your love shine through Everything depends on you
8.
Are You Getting What You Wanted? I used to tell myself It’ll be all right I used to tell myself Don’t get so uptight I’m not so free Not as young as I used to be Are you getting what you wanted? Are you getting what you think you’re worth? Are you getting what you wanted? I used to tell myself Leave it up to fate I used to tell myself All you’ve got to do is wait I’m not so sure My feet are out the door Chorus I used to hold my hand Up to the sun I used to watch my fingers Melt into one Chorus
9.
Leap of Faith Leap of faith My sleeping bags unfurled Hostel room The other side of the world Leap of faith Coming in and out of the rain Jackets wet I got no one else to blame They must be thinking I’ve lost the thread All this Guinness I’m drinking has gone to my head The difference between a loss and a win To sink or to swim is mighty thin If you’d rather play it safe don’t take a Leap of faith Nighttime turns into day You’re still here So everything’s OK Leap of faith We’re going to see this through You got me What else can we do? They must be thinking I’ve lost the thread All this Guinness I’m drinking has gone to my head The difference between a loss and a win To sink or to swim is mighty thin If you’d rather play it safe don’t take a

The Other Side Of Town Sam and Jane where driving Trying to make a break At the river Sam’s hands began to shake Jane lit two cigarettes She put one in his mouth He said thanks sweetheart it’s not too far This road will take us south If we follow it down, all the way down It’ll get us to, the other side of town x2 Jane’s husband had been a handful More murder than Sam could take Jane had collected the insurance Now they could escape Outside the wind blew bitter They drove past a rubbish tip Sam looked straight ahead Jane just bit her lip If we follow it down, all the way down It’ll get us to, the other side of town x2 Idling outside of the motel Keys hanging in the ignition Sam said babe you go in first So as not to arouse suspicion Book yourself into a single room In an hour I’ll do the same Tomorrow at six met me back out here We’ll catch that boat for Spain If we follow it down, all the way down It’ll get us to, the other side of town x2 Next morning while Sam was waiting In the twilight nervously He dreamed about the continent How their life was going to be Glancing at his wrist watch His throat went dry He realised Jane was late When he tried her room there was no reply If we follow it down, all the way down It’ll get us to, the other side of town x2 Running back to the car He cursed himself for being such a heel Jane had all the cash He hung his head behind the wheel When the cops reeled him in They said they’d had a call That’s when he knew he was the guy The guy to take the fall If we follow it down, all the way down It’ll get us to, the other side of town x2

about

Davey Beige, “Fold In Two”: Album Release Info

Recorded on a Fostex reel to reel tape machine throughout the summer of 2007 the Davey Beige album “Fold In Two” is an acoustic mix of original material. The songs and performances on the album have been inspired by a diverse range of folk influences. Ranging from British 60’s acoustic guitarists such as Davy Graham and Bert Jansch to early twentieth century Americana including blues musician Lonnie Johnson.

True to the folk ethic “Fold In Two” is played rather than computer manipulated. What you hear is what was played by Davey and his special guest musicians. Guests include drummer Josh Sorenson (The Grand Central Band), mandolin player Harry Lyon (Hello Sailor) and Lap-steel extraordinaire Johnny Fluery. Any “mistakes” that might have been captured in the musical performances haven’t been erased; instead they are left in for a bit of “light and shade”. Also reflecting traditional freewheeling folk values the album is an independent self-release.
